Dr. Jason Stajich completed his graduate work at Duke University and is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, Berkeley and the Miller Institute. He has been a BioPerl developer since 2000 and President of Open Bioinformatics Foundation since August 2005. Jason is the primary architect of the Bio::SearchIO, Bio::TreeIO, PopGen modules systems. He contributes to the Gbrowse system and helps coordinate aspects of releasing the different software packages. He worked on the defunct BioCORBA project as well as a first iteration of BioPerl db.
I am interested in evolution of fungi as revealed through comparisons of their genomes. In particular I work on comparisons of pathogenic fungi and deep branches in the fungal kingdom using molecular evolution tests for selection and comparisons of gene families. More details on the lab webpage.
